When we design a show we have a specific goal in mind; to connect those who need with those who provide. Every element of the show, every bit of copy written, marketing purchased, website designed has to keep this goal in mind. Both the exhibitors and the attendees need to see the value of a show to make it a success. Before they participate, they are sure to ask: "What's in it for me?"
Part 1: Exhibitors
When an exhibitor ask the "What's in it for me?" question... the ambiguous but accurate answer is often: "What ever you make of it".
The show provides you a venue -- an office away from the office -- to showcase your products and/or services to a crowd of potential customers. We market our events on and off line - through web, email, social, print, radio and TV advertising. As a result we draw in a substantial crowd ready to talk with you. As our tag line says "We bring customers to you." And this is where we hand over the reigns and let you "make the most of it". Your business isn't just at the show... it is the show, so strut your stuff.
We wish we could cast a spell on each attendee, creating the desperate need for them to participate in every seminar, visit every booth and spend loads of money with our exhibitors. But so far magic wands, fairy dust and hypnotists haven't worked. ☺
Turns out the magic is already in every booth in your product and services AND the salesperson you've set there to promote them.
Making the most of your space with your display and professional staff (willing to greet and engage passersby) are paramount to having a successful exhibit. Watch this blog for our Top 10 Best Exhibitor Tips in a couple week.
The Lake Superior Business Expo is prime exhibit space for businesses big and small that provide products and/or services to other businesses/business people. Our small to medium business exhibitors often reap the most benefit because the shows but them side-by-side to their larger marketing budget competitors, letting the audience compare apples-to-apples without the flashy mass marketing campaign.
Ironically, small businesses seem to have a harder time trying to exhibit. Many are "one-man-shows" and feel closing shop for the day to exhibit seems counterproductive. So, we ask, would you have 1500+ potential clients walking by your desk in a single day? At your office, do you have the opportunity to network with exhibitors and attendees alike - spreading the word of your business and gaining great local/regional awareness and making sales right there on the show floor? With a little creative scheduling and preparation, you can exhibit at the Business Expo -- grow awareness for your business and your bottom line. Can't reschedule a meeting with an important customer? We give all our exhibitors complimentary tickets to the show, meant to be shared. Invite them to meet with you at the show!

What's Your Expo-tential?
Expo-tential!
Marketing your business in the 21st Century is not as simple as it used to be. Just a decade ago you could buy an ad in the paper, yellow pages or on the radio or TV and if you had the right message and product your phone would ring and customers would come in your door. Not so anymore! Today, there is still a place for mass media marketing, but with the tight economy and media market saturated with conventional radio, internet, traditional newspaper, local/cable/satellite television and so much more, how can you make your business stand out?
The Power of a Face-to-Face Impression
You can make profitable connections and bring hundreds of new potential customers by participating in an expo; targeted marketing at it's finest - and all you need to do is "business". Lundeen Productions offers a unique opportunity to the region with over 5 annual expos all targeted at different consumer markets. Our shows include the Duluth Bridal Show (Now in it's 23rd year!), The Duluth Senior Expo, the Lake Superior Business Expo, the Duluth Women's Expo, Fun Fest and a series of events that take place at the Miller Hill Mall. Each expo offers a unique opportunity to network with a hundred other businesses and meet thousands of potential customers FACE-TO-FACE. Targeted marketing at it's finest. No guessing, these are businesses and attendees that are at the expo because they are looking for products and services that YOU have!
What's the Potential?
Generate an impression that won't be missed because the cell phone rang or someone else took off with the paper. Create a short term location for your business right on the expo floor and make the most of it. Expos are "Active Marketing" and the effort you put into the show will be returned exponentially.
Don't just show up with a flyer or two and a handful of business cards. Get creative with your space and present a message or campaign that will attract attendees and leave them with a lasting impression of a business that knows what they are doing. Devise a way to record potential customers - whether through a prize registration or informal survey. And when sales come knockin' after an event make sure you ask how they heard of you so you can track your ROI over all marketing techniques. With trade show marketing your opportunities are endless and your Expo-tential is what you make of it!
